The family are almost out of Ukraine and are a good safe place.

Brother was advised, several times, by UK Embassy to leave over two weeks ago.

My brother has gone native Ukrainian though. Regards anyone who leaves as a traitor -g-

Quite honestly, its best not to advise him anything. Would only increase risk profile in all probability.

I did talk to him for some time though. He is in downtown area and has good supplies, and reasonably protected from flying glass etc.

He is in a good temperament and spirits. That is key. Our conversation was pleasant and that was not to be missed as we usually argue.

Even the smaller calibre stuff can go through a yard of sandbags, 100mm of hardened steel, or a high amount of masonry or earth, and then explode and killing everything in a large radius. So it's a matter of making the best of things and trusting to ones luck. We did review all of that.

His Dacha has a relative in it, that is OK so far, but will likely be in a Russian controlled area before long.

All the risks, decisions, actions, plans have been considered and made.
