many expected Beijing to throw its support behind Russia. But that hasn’t happened.
It’s probably a surprise to China. From China's point of view, if Russia were unable to keep the bloated woke bureaucratic NATO from giving her a big colonoscopy by establishing bases further East than Moscow…. that would make it clear that in their new friendship Russia would remain the weaker, junior partner. It could make it more likely that China, at some future point, would want territorial concessions from Russia.

Russia's willingness to stand up to NATO and the US places their new relationship with China on a firmer footing.
