I think it was a wise decision to arm the people with thousands of rifles and ammo to fight a gorilla war.

They are getting the women and children out that want to leave, and arming the men to go back and fight Russia e,g. if they see a bunch of troops in the forest, set it on fire!

But the huge mistake Putin made, IMO, is not realizing the effect on their economy which could drive them into a depression.

The US and EU have about 20 times the GDP of Russia, I think, and shutting down every thing from access to money to boycotting vodka and other commodities on top of that is going to hurt them big time..

The stock market and ruble are in freefall, and that means Russians are losing billions of dollars and could drive Russia into a depression, along with funding the war.

I think the Russian stock market lost 150 billion in one day!!

And with no real allies. Even China and Kazakhstan are staying out of it, with China sitting on the sidelines and Kazakhstan refusing to send troops. Xi is smart and he probably sees a losing gambit. .

And the stench of Russia's aggression will make them a universal pariah for many years.

And any trust they had is gone for a generation.
