Republicans, for the most part, are strongly against open borders, with resulting hordes of unwashed illegal aliens pouring into the country. Not just Republicans, but a large majority of all US citizens feel the same. You can't have rule of law when law is being blatantly ignored..

Legal immigration is another matter and you won't find many opposed to that.
