"They're not really Middle East anyway." True.. I'm aware of a general disdain of Turkish Muslims (except the Erdogan types) against other Eastern Muslims, as they mostly identify with Europe. you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between a Muslim, an Orthodox, or a Catholic, walking yourself anywhere here. I tell people in the States that Muslims are some of the nicest people I have met.. I get wtf blank stares.
