WASHINGTON—The Senate Judiciary Committee said it would begin hearings for Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on March 21, keeping the Senate on track to finish the confirmation by the Easter holiday.
Judge Jackson began meeting with senators on Wednesday, including sit-downs with Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.).
Under the schedule, the hearings would kick off with statements on Monday, March 21, and questioning of Judge Jackson would begin on March 22 and continue the next day. Outside witnesses would testify on March 24.
Judge Jackson serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, often a steppingstone for Supreme Court justices. If confirmed by the Senate, Judge Jackson would succeed Justice Stephen Breyer, a member of the court’s liberal wing who said in January that he would retire at the end of the court’s current term.
