Of soft grey stone.
A canvas
Stretched over aeons.

Nature reworked
By many hands.
Symbols etched by
Bone, stone and time.

Their meaning
Enigmatic.
Their creators once
Dust, now earth.

Interpretation
unimportant.
They exist
ignorant of us.

Their timeline
A continuum.
On which, we
Are a hairsbreadth.
