This may sound like a simple answer, but they do everything imaginable and sometimes you can read it, most times you can't. try the guy who posted here about software that tracks their activities, maybe there is something to it. MM's want stocks to look weak when they're strong and vice versa. when a stock starts in motion, don't you notice the MM's above the ask leave before they can get taken, what does that tell you? opinions my own.
