HP would be killing HP-UX if they were to offer Solaris. It makes more sense for Compaq or DELL to be offering Solaris because to them the more boxes they sell, the more they get. It doesn't matter whether it's Windows NT or Solaris. It would be very interesting to see how Solaris on Merced works out - because Compaq and Dell would be moving to Merced based systems once it comes out. If it does happen then SUN's workstation profits could take a hit but they're already compensating it with server sales. Cheers, Babu
