I think a couple of US senators have made the same call (and the Russian embassy formally objected to it). Without wanting to take away from the gravity of of what Putin is doing, I must add that people here are subject to sophisticated propaganda and fear mongering and respond to it. It is natural for anyone to wish that sources of threats to them would die and disappear. Putin will eventually end up in a ditch, not because anyone outside of Russia demands it, but because the Russians will realize that so long as he is around, they won't have a life.
