The repossession order of the leased Aeroflot aircraft is why Aeroflot has to discontinue all foreign flights except to Belarus.

If an Aeroflot jet lands anywhere else in the world other than Russia, Belarus or North Korea, the plane is no longer under control of the Aeroflot pilots as police will seize the craft and deliver it to the actual owner.

They can try to keep the fleet flying domestically, but as with the Soviet Union that would mean without any parts from Boeing or Airbus.

Already, Russia is now allowing aircraft to fly six month past their inspection or overhaul date. There was a reason Aeroflot was once the most dangerous airline in the world.

The Soviet Union had developed their own passenger aircraft which made up the Soviet fleet but Russia no longer has this capability because Western aircraft were far more fuel efficient and less costly to fly.
