Let's consider the following analogy ..........

There is this large section of Northern Mexico which used to be part of the USA, but got ceded to Mexico and now sits on the USA's southern border. Let's call this state Mexas.

The people of Mexas speak English and still have affiliations with the USA. However, Mexico declares that no English must be spoken in Mexico or in Mexas, ONLY Spanish must be spoken. The people of Mexas object strongly to this. They hold a Referendum and as a result of that Referendum they vote to break away from Mexico's governmental control.

The Mexican government sends a military force, which has a large element of Radical NEO-NAZIS in it who are exerting undue and a disproportionate INFLUENCE over the Mexican government, and they begin to indiscriminately bombard and shell the innocent civilians of Mexas.

The USA, Canada and several other Western Governments intervene and get the Mexican government to agree to enter into discussions with the Mexas administration and stop their hostilities. This is passed through the UN SECURITY COUNCIL and becomes a RESOLUTION and thereby INTERNATIONAL LAW.

BUT ...... the Mexican government ignores that RESOLUTION and for the next 7 YEARS continues their aggressive attacks against Mexas killing more civilians. The USA keeps reminding Mexico of that UN RESOLUTION and insists that they abide by it, BUT MEXICO KEEPS ON SHELLING MEXAS.

Eventually the USA's Government concludes that Mexico will never stop their aggression against Mexas. The USA decides to recognize the breakaway state of Mexas.
Mexas then asks the USA to help them against Mexico's "genocidal" and ongoing killing of its peoples.
The USA agrees to the appeal from Mexas and sends in the Marines.

The USA also realizes that it's that large element of Radical NEO-NAZIS within Mexico who have been instrumental in this ongoing aggression against those in Mexas who wish to speak their mother tongue, English and who wish to maintain a bond with the USA.
So the Marines are directed to target these Radical NEO-NAZIS and remove them from within Mexico so that a more stable and equitable Mexico can exist and govern itself.

I wonder if a large number of "Western Governments" would now condemn the actions of the USA and its Marines and heap every conceivable sanction that they can come up with on the USA because of the fact that they came to the aid of Mexas AT MEXAS's REQUEST ?
