Here's some snippets from a couple of articles concerning transforming 2D movies into 3D Imax.

The Toronto Star Aug. 24, 1997

"He [Gelfond, co-CEO] says animated films that use a digital format can be transformed into 3-D Imax. So, Toy Story could be seen in an Imax theater and so could the computer generated dinosaurs in Lost World . Gelfond says he's exploring opportunities like that with Walt Disney Co., and Steven Spielberg's Dreamworks SKG."

Business Week March 31, 1997

"Wechsler [co-CEO] says evolving digital technology will soon give Imax the ability to produce versions of films such as Twister and Independence Day ."
