Having Americans die in the Ukraine/Russia war would be unpopular, politically speaking. More importantly, most Americans don't want that to happen at the moment. Sending weapons and imposing sanctions on Russia where all Americans suffer financially to a certain extent is more appropriate. There is nothing hypocritical about that.

I support Ukraine. They are a free country and have every right to join NATO if they so desire.

I couldn't care less about Russia. I understand their position in terms of feeling threatened if Ukraine were to join NATO. But, in the end, I support Ukraine's free choice.

Personally, I can support a war where Putin gets captured and tried and convicted for crimes against humanity. But there needs to be strong national support for that first. We are headed in that direction.
