On a slightly different topic: the logistics and marketing of the CD business.

Seems to me that adding a CD to a book package will cause a negligible increase in the cost to ship that package. To generalize, the more stuff in the package the lower the per item cost to ship.

Seems to me that CD buyers might on average be a little more in a hurry to ge their package than book buyers and thus more likely to pop for the premium delivery services. I expect the premium delivery service would generate profits for Amazon.

On the other hand, the people I see in the music store are not the same crowd I see in the book store, so Amazon might well have to spend a lot on marketing in new ways and in new places to reach them.

Any other thoughts?
