If you look at this FC info on the StorageTek site, the SAN diagrams are almost identical to the ones you will see on the Sun site - with a central FC switch connected to hubs and servers:

It has all of the usual information on FC. My guess would be that StorageTek is not making their own switches. If they have a deal with a switch company (like the Brocade rumor) the switch on the diagram is theirs.

My guess about IBM is that they want to try to make their proprietary system as interop as possible and to sell it like FC in storage systems. In this scenario, I haven't seen anything to suggest it is as fast as FC - now or in the future, but I may have missed something.
