You never want to credit what Republicans do with positive things that get done.

You missed my point. It's true that we customarily give at least token credit to whatever good things happen during a president's administration. But that is not the same thing as a presidential accomplishment. I was simply recognizing the distinction.

Now, as to your post, and assuming arguendo that we did become energy independent at that moment in time, you offer a graph as evidence. My comment is based solely on the interpretation of that graph. In it the lines do cross during the Trump administration. Note, though, that the trajectory of the lines broke sometime between 2005 and 2010 and continued on their virtuous course. So, if there's credit to be given, whatever was going on back then when the trajectory changed is more likely to have been the cause of the lines eventually crossing, not whoever was squatting in the Oval Office at the time that they crossed.
