Listened to Mearsheimer talk. Nice - it’s a breath of fresh air. Clever, sensible discussion of the issues. He gave the talk in June of 2015 — but most of the time it sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday. Or two weeks ago, right before the war. This shows how obvious, how predictable was back then what is happening now.

Like during CoViD our politicians and experts sounded as if they just that very minute invented epidemiology, immunology, public health and so on — the same way much of the commentariat sounds like the issue first appeared a couple of weeks ago, when evil Putin finally lost his mind and ordered troops to attack the innocent Ukraine - thereby endangering the innocent West, along with the US foreign policy establishment.

Enjoyed the talk. Sensible, humorous. Informative. Civilized. Pleasant.
