Probably one difference in our approach is the relative size of our positions. You said you had 35 contracts, so even .19 yields a decent profit. I can only write 4 and $76 isn't worth the effort. It is like picking up nickels in front of a steamroller, not worth the risk and effort monitoring.

One approach which has occasionally work with both calls and puts is to write closer to current price than normal and plan to roll forward as required. I currently have CMI Puts that are in the money, but my April puts are the result of rolling Feb and Mar puts forward. I have about 8.50 in put sales.
