I used to love to ramble around that area. Drove into Juarez one time, walked around a little bit. Not as colorful as I imagined. Drove through Cimmarron, New Mexico on one ramble, and stayed at the St. James Hotel, another haunted place. I related that experience here. Message 27486348

So much to see out there, I barely scratched the surface. It's the small, unexpected things you remember. I once visited an out of the way mission near the border in Arizona. There was a small restaurant right next to it whose menu was half Greek and half Mexican. Run by a couple, he was Greek, she was Mexican. After a nice Mexican meal, I ordered a Greek coffee for dessert and stepped out onto the porch to enjoy a cigar with my coffee. There were several hanging plants with cascading flowers and hummingbirds everywhere. Sitting back on that porch, enjoying the birds and surrounding landscape was something that stuck with me for a long time.
