Age-old adage indeed. Century-old dicta by Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. from a case (Schenck) that didn't involve fires or yelling or theaters or crowds. Holmes later reversed course on his position and took a more expansive view on 1A protections. Yet, that phrase is increasingly the the poster-child for what is widely labeled "misinformation" on the Internet, by MSM talking heads and politicians, most recently in connection with COVID commentary and 6-Jan.

Your point that 1A protections are not absolute is quite fair, but they are closer to absolute than not. And very much a double-edged sword that cuts in both directions.
