Lee,
Did you expect the Iraqis to welcome you? Of course they were putting AA defenses on top of buildings. This is what war is. What bothers me is that you view the world in such biased ways. Anything that your side does there was a good reason for. Anything that your opposition does is proof of how evil/incompetent/savage/whatever they are.

This whole discussion started because I said that compared to their past and compared to how the US has fought its wars, the Russians have shown a lot of self restraint. You took issues with that saying that the US never bombed cities. Now you are saying that we did, but it was for good reasons. How many weddings were bombed by the American forces? The US did not even allow counting of collateral damage. It was not a statistic, the DoD said, that we collect. Ignorance must be a bliss!!

The true damage from your line of thinking is that the American public ends up supporting forever wars that only create misery in the US and around the world. How many vets come back with PTSD? Is that because they were fighting a "clean" war?

War is hell. All invaders commit atrocities and war crimes. Some just cover it better than others. I am not going to debate this further.
