I'm going to quote/paraphrase from a couple of articles I've recently come across:

Throw in the “censorship” card that is now in frequent usage , and one might reasonably argue that we have now been transformed into a shapeless mass of people without ideals, without hopes, without faith, without even the strength to react against the abuses and crimes of those who govern them.
