H2S is awful. There's a heavy metals test commonly used in labs that requires the following reagent: H2S gas is allowed to bubble up through a set volume of water at a constant rate for an exact amount of time. This is all done under an exhaust hood, of course, but that doesn't stop the entire lab from quickly stinking to high heaven. The resulting solution is then used in a color comparison tube type evaluation. This procedure is used for testing heavy metals/arsenic levels in ppm (parts-per-million)for water and pharmaceuticals to name a few. The MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) on H2S is an eye opener. This is highly toxic gas that upon contact with water vapor can lead to sulfuric/sulfurous acids which just love to corrode anything they touch. Can't imagine going anywhere where the air is thick with this stuff.
