Mark Levin talks about the Convention of States a lot in order to amend the Constitution to fix things like that. Otherwise, it has to be passed by 2/3 of both houses of Congress. Like that'll ever happen.

The 22nd amendment is for the Presidential two-term limit, so I'm not sure I'm tracking you. The 17th amendment provided for the popular election of Senators. Before that, they were selected by State Legislatures.

I guess there could be an amendment to the 22nd amendment, but the more likely thing would be to tack a new one on the end of the list. Looks like that would make it the 28th amendment.
