When you are willing to invade another country and kill people by the thousands, clarity counts.

Saying "we can't accept Ukraine joining NATO" (if that's what Russia said), can be interpreted a number of different ways. Such as, we'll work to convince the NATO alliance otherwise via diplomatic channels.

Additionally, it wasn't as if a vote to join NATO was about to happen. They were years away at best, and may have never been allowed to join.

So, there was no Russian urgency to invade. What was the emergency? What scared Vlad so much he had to act? Nothing. No urgency existed and trying to invent one from a mad-man is a waste of brainpower.

Know thy enemy? I thought Ukraine were their kindred brothers?

Know thy enemy also means to know how evil they are.

The best outcome in this terrible tragedy is for Putin to be arrested, charged, put in jail and face charges of crimes against humanity. Followed by someone else in charge who is willing to join the civilized nations of the world.

Ukraine will be Afghanistan times 10 for Russia. My prediction is as the war drags on, Ukraine will get stronger, adapt to a war-time footing, figure out how to transport weapons and inflict greater and greater damage. Sure, Russia will continue its bombing campaign and kill many more civilians, but that won't change the outcome, unless the entire country looks like Chechnya after the Russian war.

One last thought edited in, If America were being attacked by someone like Russia, I would rather go down fighting for every last piece of cement then surrender. I think enough Americans would do the same, except of the course the radical liberal left that would run to Canada. Therefore, why should we expect Ukrainians to act differently. Why should Russians? Wouldn't Russians fight for every last mile of their country? It's the same people, with the same attitude.

This war will go on, in one form or another.
