In my posts before the special military operation I decided that USA was setting a trap for Putin and Russia. They did it to Saddam.
April Glaspie said to him that the USA would leave it to the local yokels to deal with the border dispute with Kuwait.
He took it as a green light. He took over Kuwait, which in the big picture is a reasonable idea in some respects. But Kuwaitis and more importantly USA did not like it after all.
Rather than immediately surrender and vacate, Saddam decided to keep Kuwait. Which is just what USA wanted I believe.
In fact, just a couple of years before, I said to my BP Oil International friend/collegue that what the oil chiefs and various others such as the military industrial complex would like was "a bullet through the middle east". Hey presto, it happened. With Kuwait and Iraq oil off the market, other producers were happy. As were armament makers, the politicians they buy, and chicken hawks in Washington.
If Putin did not invade, sales and sanctions and fun would not happen. They needed him in Ukraine.
Negotiations went nowhere, Donbass attacks revved up. Threats to Crimea mounted. The trap was set.
Putin went to the memorial tomb and stood for minutes. I have never seen such a solemn standing. I gulped in fear. MAD was in play. The 1812 Overture was cued. But this time with atomic bombs instead of cannons.
Once Russia's invasion force was committed, the turkey shoot could begin. All the swishy new gear could be sold and tested. Gigabucks of loot would flow. Russia would be bled dry. The economy ruined. Putin defeated and maybe killed. We came, we saw, he died ... cackle cackle cackle.
But there is a problem with atomic bombs, and Ukraine's wish to maybe not be levelled. Catching a bear in a trap can be harmful to one's health.
And China will be happy to move their Western border back to Hungary, where it was 800 years ago.
Lunatic Americans and Euroserfs are too much like violent short-sighted chimps.
