I had almost forgotten how Otellini rebated six Billion $$ in Loyalty based volume discounts to Dell over 5 years. From circa 01 to 06. Thanks for reminding me !
And ever since AMD cried about it to the FTC, the EU, and Andrew Cuomo's office, they fell far behind the race against Intel.

Only after AMD focused back on engineering instead of lawsuits did they come back and beat Intel.

It also helped that the CEOs who followed Otellini were rather "woke" and abysmal.

Good thing Gelsinger is back at Intel. And he couldn't have chosen a better time to save the company.
