Four wave down until the wheat crop yield of US and Canada is known, and then the mighty five unfolds at harvest time, (Next August to September). I had winter wheat planted after soy beans were harvested in early September-ish. They get planted late August early september and green up before the snow and pop up early in spring. Get harvested in late July through early September. Soy beans put nitrogen in the ground, so a wheat crop does not need a lot of fertilizer, unlike corn. Corn crop will be expensive to plant and it is a bet that prices will be higher in the fall for cash crop farmers - most probably will be. Farmers in my area will plant it regardless, as dairy cows need it for feed. If you don't plant it and get it at wholesale price, you may have to pay retail, so it must and does get done. Any field that did not get planted last year, will get planted in wheat, if not needed to be in another crop this summer, is my bet. Some fields do miss the usual rotation due to weather or missed planting schedule. Poor farmers can only work 24 hours a day.

A cold and/or wet spring in Canada will hurt the wheat fall crop yield.
