Funny, I found him vey readable, or at least that's my memory. Also might be the translation, for all I know Borges wrote something entirely different from what I got out of it, art is like that. Maybe a bit surreal, reading with a blurred mind. It was a while ago.

The strangest book I ever read was "Blood Oranges" by somebody. Hard to explain, lyrical, drew me in, by the end I felt like thick molasses, an actual sick sort of physiological feeling. A long time ago, when I read novels straight through. Might have been something I ate that day.

I don't read novels at all anymore.
