The Ukies, on the other hand, are a highly skilled elite fighting force who now are begging at the West's doorstep for immediate help I think the whole world is surprised at how the Russians are tripping over themselves. The "SNL skit" analogy isn't too far off.
As for the Ukrainians, they have demonstrated quite a bit of fighting spirit despite their lack of skills, technology, and planning. You can see it in their sense of humor, which is a great way to deal with the enormous stress they are experiencing.
That's not hard for me to believe, by the way. It reminds me of a history lesson, back when Korea resisted an invasion by Hideyoshi of Japan. That was around 1592. Despite having a much more well-trained army, a much better plan (even a plan for Korean citizens to integrate into Japanese society), and better arms, Koreans used sheer willpower to force the Japanese invaders back. (And this happened despite the Korean king GTFO out of dodge during the war.)
