WFoL, Sorry, but I don't know where you ever got the idea it would be a three day war. Deny it all you want. Every analyst has concluded that Russia rushed in and tried to topple the leadership in a short amount of time. That explains why they moved directly toward Kyiv, why there are numerous reports of supply and logistics issues, and why they acted as if resistance would be light.
OF COURSE PooTin is going to pretend that a long war of attrition was his plan all along, but the layout of his forces and his resorting to long-ranged bombardment despite his insistence that he would "minimize civilian casualties" proves otherwise.
It took us months to subdue Iraqi resistance and we were far more brutal to Iraqi cites than the Russians have been to Ukie cities. Oh bulls--t.
First of all, it didn't take us a month to topple Saddam Hussein.
Second, we didn't lose nearly as many troops, planes, tanks, and other hardware as the Russians have. And that's counting MANY years of us being in Iraq vs. Russia just being in Ukraine for a month.
Third, if people thought the war after "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq was brutal, you can bet that the war after "Mission Accomplished" in Ukraine is going to be utterly devastating for PooTin.
Fourth, there wasn't nearly as bad of a refugee crisis from the Iraq war as there is now in Ukraine. Nor did conditions for civilians in Iraq end up worse than conditions for civilians in Ukraine. Heck, civilians in Iraq are doing much better than civilians in Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, and Sudan.
So don't give me this bulls--t over the notion that we were far more brutal to Iraqi cities than the Russians have been to Ukrainian cities, because by any standard whatsoever, Iraqi civilians have done MUCH better than in any other armed conflict in modern history.
Even today, Iraq is now a stable democracy. Go figure.
