WFoL,
From the outset, Putin and the Russian military claimed the objectives were to defend the breakaway republics and to eventually root out and de-nazify the Ukrainian military.
This is so stupid.

First of all, the Russian military could have easily stopped at the eastern territories, then fortified their positions.

They didn't. They went straight for Kyiv.

Second, "de-nazify the Ukrainian military" is complete bulls--t, and you know it.

What, do you think Russians have "special weapons" that will take out the oh-so-nefarious "Nazis" in the Ukrainian armed forces and leave the rest alone?

You think once the oh-so-nefarious "Nazis" are gone from the Ukrainian military, the rest of the soldiers will simply lay down their guns and accept their "liberators" with open arms?

Get real. "De-nazification" was never a strategy. Instead, that's pure propaganda, which is laughable given how you love to accuse others of being "brainwashed by propaganda."

Third, nowhere did you EVER use the word "attrition" to describe PooTin's plans until now. I even did a search on this thread.

By the way, here's something you did post which confirmed that the original plan was indeed a quick and decisive victory.

bne IntelliNews - COMMENT: Eastern Ukraine is close to falling, but Putin now needs a peace, fast

Some of these consequences were foreseeable, and some not. The foreseeable ones alone were sufficient to dissuade a rational thinker from an invasion, so why on earth did Mr Putin decide to invade?

The emerging most likely answer to that question is that he shared the hope of many past aggressors – that a sharp violent shock would precipitate a speedy collapse of the opposing regime followed by a peace conference on advantageous terms. Supporters of this answer cite the Belarus/Kyiv component of the invasion as evidence. That would be more compelling if the Belarus/Kyiv component had not spent two weeks studiously not advancing. It would also be more compelling if the attack had been conducted with full kinetic force (not worrying about civilian deaths) and on a narrower front (to concentrate the shock effect). Perhaps Mr Putin had an unfounded belief in the blitzkrieg capabilities of Russia’s ground forces.

*******

You might as well admit that you, like PooTin, are changing your story and pretending that everything was going "aCcOrDiNg tO pLaN" ...
