I must assume he has scampered back to his cave to re-paint those

John Galt understands your position on random events and he must
disagree. It is my position that random events occur. This is
evident, as an example, in the decay or half life of the radioactive
element and in quantum mechanical states. This 'true randomness' cannot be duplicated in any mechanical or algorithmic way. However, it can be experienced, observed, etc...
Your position is simply that perhaps we have not defined it, therefore, it does not exist. Einstein, in responding to Bohr and
Heisenburg on their work in quantum physics, said "God does not play
dice with the Universe". John Galt disagrees even with the esteemed
and most holy Eistein. Bohr responded "Who is Einstein to argue with
God?"
There is an important philosphical principal here. John Galt believes
in free will. He is not a rational determinist. True randomness must exist if evolution (random mutations) happen. True randomness must
exist if free markets (laisse faire) work successfully. Your deterministic position (causal and, hence, predeterminable) is wrong.
