Only in crises do they feel that the political Left and media can merge to use apocalyptic times to ram through usually unpopular approaches to foreign and domestic problems.

We saw that last year: fleeing from Afghanistan, the embrace of critical race theory, trying to end the filibuster, pack the court, junk the Electoral College, and nationalize voting laws.

These “new orders” and “resets” always entail far bigger government and more unelected, powerful bureaucracies.
This one is a brilliant piece by VDH. The entire thing is excellent.

Noticed this tweet with interesting graphs. They demonstrate that to say “war is bad” (we all know that) is a lot easier than to apply sanctions. The majority of world's population live in places that do not participate in the sanctions. Many countries depend on food imports from Russia - with many poor countries getting it at discounted prices. Russia not being able to conduct international transactions will hurt them.
