I hate to spoil the party, but I have a gut feeling that Tuesday AMAT will announce pushouts and that while there may be some good news as to the future it will be tempered.

This is just my speculation now if I was forced to make a bet as to what will be said. I hope I'm wrong, and we have a party on Wednesday as Don has pointed out with some big gains.

On the other hand the push to 0.25 and 0.18 micron continues, as does the push to 300mm wafters. These could have a major impact on demand. Also, most industry types see an increase in demand for equipment this year - and only recently did I see an analyst predict a decline (5% by NationsBanc if I recall).

I've done a detailed analysis of where the experts think the semi equipment market is going in 98, what the analysts are saying and why, and will run it down off my other machine and post it if there is any interest.

Anyone in the industry have an opinion here?

Best - Joe
