Death on the Nile-

LOVE this new version. LOVE LOVE LOVE
Love the music. Love the costumes. Love the acting. This is so much better than Murder on the Orient Express- which I didn't like at all and (for me) had the pacing of an action adventure film and not an Agatha Christie mystery. But this movie is epic! Love the shots of Egypt too- the setting is as much a star as any character. It's very, very much to my taste :-)

Brannagh gives us a more serious, less prissy, detective- and he's a very different character from the broad (pun intended) Ustinov version of the man or the Suchet version- who is often pretty unlikable- though I loved the show. Brannagh may actually be too human and too un-prissy for the character as written by Agatha- but the new man he has created is equally intriguing.

Critics may not have liked it- but the audience score is 83%. I'm with them:
