The outcome of a unionization vote for thousands of Amazon.com Inc. workers at an Alabama warehouse is too close to call and is set to be determined in a hearing where federal officials will sort through contested ballots.

Out of more than 2,000 employees who cast ballots, about 43% voted against unionization, with about 38% voting for a union, according to a Wall Street Journal tally of votes. The remaining ballots are contested and will be reviewed in a hearing, according to the National Labor Relations Board.
