Ha! So, it took warships to keep an Australian politician from violating Putin? Truly, the passions fly high.

Watching the markets these days, btw, is probably the silliest waste of the increasingly precious time. If we go to war, money will not be of much use to a bunch of scattered molecules. If we don’t go to war, the markets will rally - just as they did after the CoViD crash. Just buy the index (plus some gold and commodities) - and go take a nice long walk on the beach and wait and see what happens. I'll do just that, right at sunrise.

Nuke demos… I think whoever decides to do it should keep in mind that the parts of our brains responsible for collective thought have already been activated. Just blowing up a nuke far out in the open ocean would cause millions to call for immediate retaliation for the suffering of whales and other sea creatures.

Europe is a mess. They are the ones who should be scared. As the recently cancelled Scott Ritter explained, under article 5, if one nato member is attacked - others are not necessarily obliged to go to war. I don’t understand how it works, but it seems that if a Euro member nation is attacked, the US is under no direct obligation to go nuclear.

Biden may be old, but his long term memory is still holding up. Maybe his condition is what keeps him from getting overwhelmed by the noise of the moment? Maybe there is a silver lining? He still remembers - from the peaceful old days of the Cold War, when the grass used to be so much greener - that getting nuked is something to be avoided.
