In 2014 Nuland set up a coup in Ukraine. She even bragged about it later.

Russia was already in Crimea and had been there for hundreds of years. The population was primarily Russian and Tatar. Russia's black sea naval base was there (as it had always been) . Russia was officially "leasing it" from the Ukies, but once the Nazis took power in the coup and forced Yanukovich to flee, they moved to protect tbeir interests and secured it so a referendum could take place. It was a foregone conclusion as to how the people would vote because they were mostly Russian. The break was overwhelmingly approved. and then they approved joining Russia.
