No insult intended. I was responding to your "we all" statement and correcting myself.

The illogic I think you are referring to is about moral equivalency, I see none when comparing the two entities involved in the conflict.

As an example; 5 thugs break down your front door, burn down your home, kill your wife, then rape you children.

If you survived the encounter and were able to find the culprits, it would be morally understandable if you acted in a way others not involved in the crime would find objectionable. Movies have been produced based on the theme of the father exacting revenge.

That example is similar to what's happening in Ukraine, Russian troops have broken into the country, blown up homes, murdered thousands and based on first hand reports sexually assaulted woman.

The Ukrainians who are able to fight, are not likely to calmly arrest the destroying murderers and take them into custody to stand trial. They are more likely going to make them pay for the pain and suffering they've caused in a direct sort of way.
