The American Assoc. for Cancer Research (AACR) meeting has an impact on biotech.

This week’s median portfolio beat both the S&P Biotech index and the broader NASDAQ Composite in the sense it lost a little less -(-2.7 vs -3.4% and -3.9%). For what its worth the NASDAQ Biotech index actually closed the week in the black… barely (+0.4%).

In an interesting juxtaposition of outlier weekly performance of individual stocks, PHIO presented “Positive New Data” from pre-clinical results finance.yahoo.com which merited a 169% surge for the week, catapulting the stock to the top YTD performance (+135%). On the other hand GNCA in the very same meeting (and about the same point in time) presented “Encouraging Initial Data from GEN-011 Phase 1/2a Trial at AACR 2022”
finance.yahoo.com, and was rewarded with a dive of -69% to become this week's record loser, still not bad enough to break into the bottom 5 stocks YTD. I guess it pays to be “Positive” rather than just “Encouraging”.

Speaking of catapults, ECCU’s 10% holding of PHIO launched him into the top 10 YTD portfolios in 5th place. (ETHAN H returned to the top 10 also.) Otherwise the relative ranking of our top performers was unchanged, except at the very top where DIEGO SAN (now with the only portfolio in the YTD black) and JACK HARTMANN traded places.
