I didn’t know much about him. But sometime around 2000 or 2002 I made a rare trip to Walmart with my wife and while waiting on her was checking out the books that didn’t sell. I found a book, “A Durable Peace” on the rack and it was about $3 so a I grabbed it.

It was quite a find, in which Netanyahu deftly lays out the history and the struggle in considerable detail, in captivating fashion. I don’t understand much about Israeli culture but the book gave me a food foundation for at least understanding of the problems Israel faced during the 20th century and a little grasp of the longer historical perspective.

I always thought I would get around to reading more of his books but haven’t as yet. But I think of him as a phenomenal world leader who really gets it. Someone has to understand there is true evil found in states and nations around the world and someone has to be willing to face it with determination. Israel's political system encourages dynamic leadership but he does bring important stability in a way.
