The reason tickets are so expensive is simple. Supply and demand. A huge number of people want to see concerts and other performances and there are a limited number of seats. Beyond that demand in nominal terms has been inflated by the inflation of the money supply. All the other things Oliver mentioned were at most secondary effects.
