Chowder, I find it interesting that the CEF equivalence (BXMX or SPXX, QQQX) vastly outperform the popular ETF covered call funds (QYLD, XYLD). I couldn't find an equivalent for RYLD but RMT out performs it. It probably has to do with the much higher distributions of the ETFs but the CEFs' distributions are no slouches.

I may have to look into further it but it might be time for a switch of some of the funds. Those CEFs distributions are right in my sweet spot, 6 - 8 %
