I had a '71 240Z, '74 260Z and now I have my '79 280ZX garaged. I checked out a '74 Pantera before I bought the 260. That Pantera wasn't practical.

I don't know anything about working on cars. However, I'm going to have the 280ZX restored to a driver level for personal reasons. I know it will cost me more that it will ever be worth but I can live with that. The 280ZX still has the original clutch at 88,000 miles. The original wheels too. They have to be redone. Body has some rust in the normal Z spots. Always garaged.

I found a guy in VA who would completely overhaul the engine for $10 grand because that's his business. But he didn't do body work. Now, who knows who I'll find.

The C8 Z06 is alive and to be sold starting this Summer. I think that dead stuff may have been an April Fools trick. It's mid-engine with the largest flat-plane-crank engine that can spin to 8,600 RPM. Plus it's about 6 inches wider that the stingrays. The low-rev engine sound is like the low revs of the C7's LT1 and the high revs sound like a ferrari engine. I've only heard it online but its beautiful. The Z06 is produced for the track.

The problem is the wait time. There are guys that placed their orders for the C8 stingray 2 years ago and are still waiting. My guess is the Z06s might be available in 3 years or so. In my case, my reflexes may become to slow to handle a C06 in several years.

Rick Conti sells corvettes and he's been trying to sell C8s since before they came out. Here's his view of selling now. youtube.com

I've heard corvettes called old men's cars. They are very docile cars to drive as long as one is aware of their tricks. However, they become beasts whenever you want them too. I won't be caught without one.
