To be sure, any embedded journalist in a war is only going to show us what his side wants us to see.

This is why freedom of the press is extremely important. Without it, independent journalism is impossible.

That's why Patrick Lancaster should never be considered an "independent journalist." The minute he goes off-script, off to gulag he go.
