One of the greatest spies ever was that British officer, Lawrence of Arabia. He lived with the tribes he was supposed to study, he ate their food, [probably] slept with their women…. He lived their lives and had earned their trust - which, as far as I know, he never betrayed. But he could also give true and valuable advice to his government.

Our intel is centered on electronics and data - Sigint. That involved huge investments. It is threatened by the new quantum technologies. What’s even worse, the reports they generate may contain a great amount of info - plenty enough for theory builders to work with - but to grasp what you’re really dealing with - for that, you still need a human.
