Am agnostic on the Ukraine situation so far as whereof's and arguably less about whereto's simply because the whereof's are murky and I cannot guess, whereas the whereto's are equally murky but I can at least convince myself that equations and theories might be applicable, after taking account of psychology and sweep of aggregate emotions pressing against politicians who might not be as tough as they appear.

Re Shanghai, nothing different than what was once successfully done in Wuhan, before the town engaged in celebratory mass gathering at public swimming pools and such. Just that Shanghai folks are less obedient, and the city is host to more CNN types eager to gather at any little incidence and make a day of it.

I shall call my nephew this day and see what is actually up or down. He runs his own coffee wholesale distribution and flagship retail biz and supplies to the restaurants and hotels. If anyone knows anything, he ought to. He also dabbles in gold trading on behalf of his ex-clients from metal trading 24/7s.
