You must have read my mind, I was thinking the exact same thing. My wife uses an iPhone 6s plus, I believe she bought it in 2017 and it still works fine and all current Apple software runs on it. I have a 7s plus, a year newer, same thing. As long as the software we need works, there is no way we would spend the dough on new phones. Both our phones were bought at around $300 each when Xfinity first offered cell service. Even if your battery craps out our local Apple store charges 50 bucks to install a new one.
